PREVENT PROSECUTION & CORRUPTION 1. Make sure you have your Learners License on your person when attending your training. 2. Do not, under any circumstances, give your original Learners License or Drivers License to any other party. 3. Make sure your Driving School is a registered business & has a credit card facility (then the bank has checked the credentials of the school on your behalf). 4. Do not pay anybody any monies that has not been specified from the outset by your Driving School (this includes fees payable to the Testing Stations). 5. Book your Learners License Test or Drivers License Test well in advance. This will allow your instructor to work out a training schedule for you up until your test date. It will also avoid prolonged training and unnecessary expenditure. 6. Ensure that you book your Tests through the Call Centre - 0860 428 8364, otherwise you will have an invalid license. 7. When going to confirm your test dates at the testing centres, do so in the mornings from 07h30 to 12h00, as they do not accept payments in the afternoon.
INTERESTING ROAD TRAFFIC RULES 1. When turning right at an intersection only one vehicle is allowed inside the intersection. If you are the 2nd car waiting to turn right, wait for the first car to exit before you enter the intersection (Fine = approx. R500-00). 2. You may not drive within the yellow line when: a highway, a 2 lane road, Your vision is obscured i.e. at night, smoke, approaching a hill or bend or any other time when you cannot see more than 150 meters in front of you. 3. You must stop when pedestrians are waiting to cross at a pedestrian crossing, they always have right of way, eventhough the road service is for the use of vehicles only, unless otherwise indicated i.e. pedestrian crossing. 4. When stopping at a stop street, your vehicle has to be in a stationery position for at least 3 seconds before pulling off (find = approx. R500-00). 5. Parking lights are NOT for driving - it is for parking only.
GENERAL 1. Stay calm, relaxed and aware at all times when driving your vehicle. Correct attitude is of the utmost importance. 2. Avoid or divert your driving to keep clear of Taxi's or 'uncertain' drivers. 3. Drive with your headlights on at all times - it makes you more visible to other road users. 4. Don't only look at traffic directly in front of you. Look 15 seconds ahead or as far ahead as is visible, in order to predict a dangerous situation and have enough time to plan and avoid it. 5. Increase your following distance to at least 3 seconds in order to have better visibility and to have enough time to avoid a potential dangerous situation.
GETTING A TEST BOOKING AT THE CALL CENTRE EKHURULENI - 0860 358 358 GAUTENG - 0860 428 8364
If you want to make a booking for a Learners License Test or Drivers License Test set one day aside and do the following:
1. Dial the relevant number, ask for any test available anywhere, choose a suitable Testing Station and make the booking. If no bookings available....put hand set down and immediately dial again. Do this continueously until you get a suitable booking. Within one day you will have your booking date. 2. You need to follow the above instructions otherwise you will not get a booking. the Testing Stations submit their bookings randomly during the day and a set of bookings will be taken within 5 minutes. 3.
